CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES: A SECOND HELPING is a very funny musical set in rural Minnesota in the basement of the local Lutheran church where dedicated, resilient and quirky women work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the congregation running, and every event in between. The year is 1969 and the world is changing, as folks protest the Vietnam War, women are demanding equal pay for equal work and the Vikings are facing the Chiefs in the Superbowl, the ladies in the basement are dealing with changes of their own. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young mom-to-be, these women find strength in each other as they meet head-on the challenges of life. The Church Basement Ladies are Maples Rep favorites because “You’ll laugh ‘till your side dish hurts.”
