By Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett
Adapted by Wendy Kesselman

This powerful true story is a stage adaptation of the posthumously published 1947 book The Diary of a Young Girl recounting the experiences of Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager, and seven others in hiding during the Holocaust.

It premiered on Broadway in 1955 and on film in 1959 and has been seen and studied by generations of students and scholars seeking to understand human nature, family dynamics and lives lived under the pressures of war. In the 1990s, survivor accounts and newly discovered writings from the diary were interwoven with the original script to create a contemporary adaptation of the play which focuses on one girl’s memories and hope for the future.
