Shows for Kids, Families, and Students

Maples Rep patrons come in all ages. We specifically program terrific learning opportunities for young people AND offer shows that will appeal to audiences ages 4 to 104! Shows for Youth run Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10:00 AM and are $5 for kids and $10 for adults. Although labeled for kids, these one hour shows are great for all ages and are performed by our professional actors just like our main stage shows. They are always child appropriate in content and the perfect length of time to keep them entertained.

THE GENUINE GENIE

Ali Barbara finds a magical lamp complete with a genie! However, instead of granting Ali Barbara three wishes, this genie claims the genuine way it works is for the finder to grant the genie three wishes! Tasked with the seemingly impossible, Ali Barbara resorts to trickery to appease the genie. But when Ali Barbara’s conscience gets the best of her, the genie is moved to goodwill by her honesty and they both discover that good fortune comes to those who deserve it.

MISS ELECTRICTY

Ten-year-old Violet is determined to show the world, not to mention the cool kids at school, just how special she is. With the help of her assistant Freddy, she sets out to break a world record, but becomes accidentally extraordinary when she’s struck by lightning — twice — and gains control over all things electric. Under the name Miss Electricity, Violet zaps her way through circuits, bullies, and tests, but could lose everything when the power goes to her head.

ONCE UPON A SHOE

Mother Goose sadly announces to her children that they must leave their home—a large, comfortable shoe—and move to an old sneaker “across the tracks.” The children decide to “put on a show” to save their shoe, and in the best Garlandooney tradition, they proceed to enact eight of Mother Goose’s best poems.
