Mamma Mia!: June 13 – July 8
Sophie is ready to get married to her fiancée Sky, except for one thing – she has never met her father and wants him present for the big day. She invites three men that she discovers in her mother’s diary and believes to be candidates, but when they all arrive, Sophie’s mother Donna becomes distressed. As Sophie, Sky, Donna, her friends, and the three potential fathers prepare for the big day, emotions run high and surprises abound. This jukebox musical features hits of the wildly popular 70’s Swedish pop/dance group ABBA.
Tom, Dick and Harry: June 22 – July 27
In this hilarious story of three brothers, Tom and his wife are about to adopt a baby. His brothers are anxious to help make a good impression on the woman from the agency who has arrived to check on the home and lifestyle of the prospective parents. Unfortunately Dick, who has stashed boxes of smuggled brandy and cigarettes in the house, and Harry, who is in possession of a cadaver he is planning to sell illegally to a medical school, fail miserably. The adoption agency representative is aghast – and the stow-away immigrants who do not speak English are no help at all!
The Drowsy Chaperone: July 20 – August 12
When an avid theatre buff places an old record on his phonograph, his favorite 1928 Broadway show comes to life in his living room. A loving satire of old musicals, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE hilariously pulls one show-stopping production number after another out of – the refrigerator. A parade of zany characters spills onto the stage: the loveable movie star, and her besotted bridegroom, a bumbling best man, a desperate movie producer, ditsy hostess, wise-cracking butler, gangsters in disguise, a Latin Lothario, and an inebriated chaperone will all sing and dance their way into your heart.
Dearly Departed: September 26 – October 7
This deliciously hilarious comedy deals with a group of small town southerners, trying to get through a family funeral without causing even more grief. When the Patriarch of the Turpin family keels over dead in the first scene, the struggle to get him buried involves the whole clan, including the not-so-grieving widow who wants to put “mean and surly” on the tombstone. Despite the comedic efforts of this family to pull themselves together for the funeral, their other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion: oldest son, Ray-Bud, drinks himself silly as the funeral bills mount, Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a pack of unruly kids and a wife who suspects him of infidelity in the family car, and their unmarried sister, Delightful, continues to seek consolation by eating junk food. Amidst the chaos, the Turpin family turns to an eccentric community of misfits for comfort, and they just manage to pull everyone together through their hours of need.
On Golden Pond: October 24 – November 4
For forty-eight years, Norman Thayer and his energetic wife, Ethel, have been spending the summers at their lakeside home on Golden Pond, fishing and watching for loons. This year, their divorced daughter, Chelsea, her new fiancé and his thirteen year old son make an unexpected visit. When Norman develops an unlikely friendship with the boy, it reinvigorates the grumpy retired professor and highlights the rocky relationship between this father and his now middle-aged daughter. As the summer days grow short, there is still time for their family to heal, and to rediscover the joys in everyday life.
Church Basement Ladies: Away in a Basement: November 23 – December 9
Those charming Church Basement Ladies are back for the holidays with more of their musical comedy merriment. AWAY IN A BASEMENT finds the gals in 1959, helping the kids get ready for their Sunday School Christmas program. As they discuss the politics of the pageant and mend old bathrobe costumes, little do the ladies know what surprises are in store for them, especially as the widowed pastor contemplates spending Christmas with someone new.
